Leland Fire/Rescue is excited to announce it has received a $29,720 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® to ensure local first responders have the necessary equipment to keep community members and themselves safe.
The grant will be used to purchase extrication equipment, including a ram, cutter, spreader, and saltwater battery, fulfilling a critical need within the department. This equipment, collectively known as the “Jaws of Life”, will allow first responders to extricate accident victims on land or in water. The department is also enhancing its arsenal by obtaining saltwater batteries. These waterproof and rechargeable batteries are invaluable during water-related emergencies and natural disasters.
“We are grateful to the Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Leland for awarding us this grant,” said Leland Fire/Rescue Chief Ronnie Hayes. “This equipment will help us to be ready, save lives, and help the people of Leland during emergency situations.”
