Leland Police Department Animal Services provides service and assistance with domestic animal related needs to residents within the corporate Town limits of Leland. During normal business hours, our certified Animal Services Officer will respond to incidents involving stray or aggressive dogs or cats, as well as reporting or documenting incidents of animal aggression and investigating suspected incidents of animal abuse or neglect.
Our agency maintains a state-certified temporary holding facility for domestic animals. Animals are housed, fed, and walked for a period of 72 hours. After that duration, if an owner has not reclaimed their animal, the animal is transported to the Brunswick County Animal Services Shelter. If you have an issue or a question regarding any animal related service, please contact the Leland Police Department at (910) 371-1100 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Leland Police Department does not handle any issues regarding alligators or other natural habitat wildlife within the Town. For those matters, citizens are asked to contact an officer with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission by calling (866) 318-2401.
