Learn about exciting upcoming programs and events at the Town of Leland Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department’s annual Open House. The event will be held on Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Leland Cultural Arts Center (LCAC), located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way.
All are welcome to attend this free, family-friendly event to meet instructors, learn about upcoming events, and sign up for programs. Throughout the day, attendees can try hands-on activities led by instructors that offer a sneak peek into what to expect from their programs. This is also a great time to discuss potential limitations and how instructors may be able to provide modifications.
Hands-on demonstrations will include pottery instructors doing wheel throwing and pinch pot examples, a stained-glass instructor showing how to cut and solder glass, an environmental education instructor teaching how to plant microgreens, and youth instructors leading movement, writing, and coloring for all ages. Performances and demonstrations will also be offered to showcase programs in piano and violin, dancercise, belly dancing, and tap dancing.
The department offers a wide variety of programs for people of all ages in the areas of cultural arts, environmental education, health and wellness, and community enrichment, along with several youth programs. “Open House is a great chance for members of the community to meet our instructors, learn about our programs, and find inspiration for their next creative venture,” Program Coordinator Kirsti Armstrong said. “As our department celebrates 15 years this fall, we are proud to see how much we’ve grown and excited to continue welcoming new participants into our dynamic programs.”
All fall and winter programs will be open for registration during Open House. Learn more about registration, which begins Aug. 1 at 9 a.m.
