Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with family fun for everyone in the Town of Leland! December is packed full of holiday events to help you enjoy the magic of the season.
Help the Leland Police Department and Leland Fire/Rescue Pack the Patrol Car on Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Leland Walmart. Nonperishable food items and new unwrapped toys for children ages 12 and under will be collected and donated to Brunswick Family Assistance.
Join the Town for the annual lighting of the Leland Tree on Dec. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Town Hall Plaza, located at 102 Town Hall Drive. Help Santa light the tree, visit with Saint Nick himself, take a train ride on the Leland Express, and enjoy local food trucks. Town Hall Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic between Village Road and Old Fayetteville Road from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Free parking will be available at First Baptist Church of Leland, located at 517 Village Road NE, with a free shuttle beginning at 5:30 p.m. Due to Founders Park renovations, Leland in Lights will be scaled back this year, featuring lights only at Town Hall and other Town facilities. The lights will be illuminated at dusk every evening through Jan. 2.
Also on Dec. 2, don't miss the popular Holiday Art Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Leland Cultural Arts Center (LCAC), located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way. The free event features unique handmade gifts from nearly 40 vendors that are sure to please everyone on your shopping list.
Santa is heading to the LCAC for two special events: Cookies with Santa on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. and Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m. Registration is required for both events, which will feature holiday treats, crafts, and story time. Register online for the Cookies with Santa wait list. Breakfast with Santa registration is available online or in person at the LCAC.
Swing into the holidays with Wilmington Big Band and guest vocalist Lauren Meehan on Dec. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the LCAC. Wilmington Big Band will be playing holiday classics and big band favorites all night. Tickets are $15 and available online or at the LCAC.
Finally, sensory friendly visits with Santa will be offered on Dec. 16 from 12 to 2:30 p.m. at the LCAC. Children with specific needs can enjoy the time-honored tradition of visiting Santa in a subdued and calm environment. Registration is required for this free event and available online.
