In April 2022, the Town adopted a resolution expressing its desire to join the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Network of Age-Friendly Communities. This network helps communities become inclusive for all ages by adopting features such as safe, walkable streets, improved housing and transportation options, access to essential services, and opportunities for residents to engage in community activities. In August 2024, Council formally adopted the Age-Friendly Community Strategic Plan. Plan implementation began in the Fall of 2024 and will continue until its renewal in Summer 2028.

This plan utilizes the AARP's 8 Domains of Livability:
