Project Updates
Construction continues with the contractor laying sewer force main along Old Town Creek Road. The project has been officially transferred to Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer H2GO. Town staff is currently working with the engineer and H2GO to transfer over permits and agreements.
The contractor will begin laying the force main along Old Town Creek Road this week. A second closure of Old Town Creek Road is anticipated for late spring as the contractor open cuts the road near St. James AME Zion Church.
Old Town Creek Road is open to all traffic. The contractor finished installing underground utilities across Old Creek Road, backfilled the site, and patched the road. There is still minor cleanup needed and the contractor plans to provide a full mill and overlay in approximately four weeks that will require brief lane closures. Please use caution when in the area.
The Town of Leland will be closing Old Town Creek Road to all traffic from March 22 at 7 a.m. through March 26 at 6 p.m. for the contractor to install underground utilities across Old Town Creek Road. All residents will still be able to access their homes/property during the open cut of Old Town Creek Road. The road is only closed to thru traffic. Citizens trying to use Old Town Creek Road as a thoroughfare or trying to get to their home/property on the other side of the open cut will need to use the detour.
Construction on Old Town Creek Road is scheduled to begin the week of Feb. 1. The contractor will be bringing in equipment and clearing and grading the new lift station site. Construction is expected to take five months to complete.
Town Council approved the bid and selection of Civil Works Contracting, LLC as the construction contractor on the project.
Final plans and bid documents are complete. Project is being advertised for construction bids. Bid closing is slated for 3 p.m. on Nov. 19.
