The Hurricane Expo is a great opportunity for residents to get prepared ahead of hurricane season. This one-stop event brings together emergency resources, storm-related guidance, and access to key community partners and agencies. Highlights of the day include:
- Informative workshops at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. led by the National Weather Service and Town staff
- Public safety Q&A roundtable at 12:30 p.m.
- Rain barrel raffle
- Safety tips and information on smoke alarms, CPR, and KnoxBoxes
- Kid zone with fire engines, swift water rescue gear, and public safety vehicles from multiple agencies

Representatives from multiple organizations will have booths set up to assist with questions and aid the public in preparing for the upcoming hurricane season. The Town is grateful for participation from the following agencies: Town of Leland staff from Fire/Rescue, Police, Public Works, and Planning and Inspections departments, Brunswick County Emergency Services, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, the National Weather Service, Legal Aid of North Carolina, the Red Cross, and the N.C. Cooperative Extension Agency.
