Spring is in the air and the Town of Leland is helping you spruce up your yard with two upcoming giveaways.
The Plant Giveaway is happening on April 22 at 10 a.m. at the Leland Cultural Arts Center, located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way. This is a free event for Leland residents only. Supplies are limited and will be given out on a first come, first served basis. The number of plants per person/family will be determined at the start of the event. Participants can expect native plants or plants specifically selected to grow in this region. Last year, residents received flowers, vegetables, peppers, and some succulent coverage plants.
The Tree Giveaway is happening on April 29 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Founders Park, located at 113 Town Hall Drive. This free event is open to everyone. Participants can expect the following trees based on availability: October Glory Maple, Brandywine Maple, Heritage River Birch, Natchez Crape Myrtle, Green Gable Black Gum, Red Splyndor Black Gum, White Oak, Swamp White Oak, Overcup Oak, Nuttal Oak, and Willow Oak. This event was made possible by financial sponsors Arbor Day Foundation and FedEx, as well as local sponsors and event coordinators Cape Fear Tree Alliance.
Both events will not only provide the community with a variety of plants and trees to take home, but also education on planting and maintenance.
