The Town of Leland is seeking community input to help shape its ongoing efforts to create a safer and more efficient roadway system while planning for future transportation needs. As part of this vision, Leland is developing two key initiatives: the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Comprehensive Safety Action Plan and the Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP). These plans aim to improve safety and address future infrastructure needs for all modes of transportation, including walking, biking, driving, and transit.
The SS4A Plan will identify safety priorities based on current conditions, crash data, and community feedback. The IMP will focus on long-term transportation infrastructure needs for the next 25 years. A draft list of roadway safety improvements has already been developed based on crash data, community input, and an analysis of factors contributing to accidents involving drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists, but further community input is needed to finalize these plans.
Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts on transportation needs and safety improvements at a drop-in workshop on Oct. 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Town Hall, located at 102 Town Hall Drive. Residents can stop by at any time during these hours to participate.
For those unable to attend in person, complete the online survey to share feedback on transportation needs and use the public input map to pinpoint where future transportation projects are needed and submit comments on improvements. Hard copy surveys will also be available at Leland Town Hall, the Leland Cultural Arts Center, the Leland Library, and the Brunswick Center at Leland.
