The Town of Leland is participating in the Clean Water Education Partnership’s (CWEP) Regional Creek Week March 16-23. Creek Week brings together communities across North Carolina to protect local waterways.
The Town of Leland is partnering with Cape Fear River Watch to bring residents the second annual Storm Drain Marking program. On March 20, help permanently mark storm drains in the community and distribute door hangers to raise awareness about keeping stormwater clean. The goal of adding storm drain markers is to help ensure individuals think before they dump harmful contaminants into waterways. This event is free and open to anyone over the age of 8. Registration is required.
During Creek Week, take part in CWEP’s weeklong Wandering Water Map project. Visit local waterways and snap a picture to participate in this state-wide initiative.
More information about Creek Week is available on CWEP’s Regional Creek Week webpage.
