The projects are intended to construct a sidewalk along Old Fayetteville Road from Ricefield Branch to Leland Middle School, a multi-use path extension along Village Road from the Brunswick County Senior Center to Sturgeon Creek, and a sidewalk loop from Town Hall Drive down Village and Old Fayetteville Roads.

Project Updates
The contractor is currently working along Town Hall Drive to install sidewalk and pervious concrete for on-street parking. Work will require one lane to be closed with flagging for the duration. Please use caution when driving on Town Hall Drive. Residents will still be able to access Founders Park and Town Hall.
The contactor will have one lane closed on Town Hall Drive on Sept. 25 as they continue to grade and put stone down for the new sidewalks. Construction is slated to begin this week on Town Hall Drive. Work includes widening Town Hall Drive, new sidewalks, improved drainage, a new crosswalk, and on-street parking. The contractor will be working off the shoulder for most of the work and will require one lane to be closed with flagging for the duration over the next several weeks. Please use caution when driving on Town Hall Drive. Town staff and residents will still be able to access Town Hall and Founders Park.
The contractor is finishing up along Old Fayetteville Road near Leland Middle School and will be moving to Town Hall Drive and Village Road to begin moving water meters, installing remaining sidewalks, and paving the multi-use path. Work will continue into August.
The contractor continues to install concrete sidewalk along Village Road. New streetlights have been installed along Town Hall Drive and the contractor will be installing storm drainpipe along Old Fayetteville Road this month.
The contractor is continuing to lay concrete sidewalk in front of Leland Middle School and down Old Fayetteville Road, as well as continuing to clear and grade along Village Road and Town Hall Drive for both the sidewalk and multi-use path.

Construction on the three projects is scheduled to begin the week of Feb. 8, 2021. The contractor will be bringing in equipment and starting survey work. Construction is expected to take six months to complete improvements.
Town Council approved the bid and selection of Simmons Public Utility Site Work, Inc. as the construction contractor on the project.
